Concours: Strutting it! by Jeanne Beker -TERMINÉ
The grit behind the glamour".
Last week, I received the new book by fashion guru Jeanne Beker : "Strutting it! The grit behind the glamour". She gives us an inside view at the reality of a model in the fashion world, and it's far from being as glamourous as we think! Yes, the Giseles, Natalias, Darias and Kates of this world win millions of dollars each year and fly off to dreamy destinations for photo shoots, but to get to this status, they had to run around castings, live in model apartments with 10 other girls, work 12h a day for a 200$ cheque..
It's a small but very interesting book for those who are considering a career as an international model, but also for those who want a glimpse inside a model's life.
Here are some views I found very interesting from the book:
Bonne chance :)
The good news is, I have one copie of the book to give out ! To participate, you must first do a 'like' on Montreal In Style's Facebook page, then tell me in a comment on this post who is your favorite model and why! Don't forget to sign your comment with you full name so I can trace you if you win. The contest ends Monday May 16th at 5pm. Good luck :)

Here are some views I found very interesting from the book:
"Most recently, I've reveled in the fact that the hottest models working today are those that are multi-dimensional and that work hard at showing the world they're more than just pretty faces." (page 2)
"People are always charmed by the unexpected, and in fashion, originality rules supreme." (page 24, about a model's personal style)
"Remember, style isn't just about the clothes we wear: It's also about the way we choose to move through the world." (page 25, about a model's personal style)
"Being socially conscious may seem very much 'in fashion' these days, but this is the one meaningful trend we all hope is here to stay." (page 34, about models and charity)
"And to think some people take these fashion-magazine images so literally, they actually aspire to look like the models! And impossibility, to say the least. The world of high fashion is largely about creating illusions." (page 41, about photo retouching)

Merci Annick !
Katherine Leroux Bourdon
I also love Tyra Banks, just because she's seriously fierce, successful, beautiful, and isn't a slave to the "models need to be super skinny" stereotype.
Thanks for the awesome giveaway, it looks like a great book!
